Air source heat pumps are an increasingly popular choice for property owners in Hertfordshire looking to move towards a more efficient, lower-carbon way of heating their home or commercial space. They work by extracting heat from the air outside and using it to provide heating and hot water inside your property.
At LE Heating, we help customers understand whether an air source heat pump is the right fit for their building, usage and heating setup. As an MCS-certified installer, we follow a full QMS-built process that includes survey, heat loss assessment, system design, proposal and professional installation.
There are several reasons why property owners are choosing air source heat pumps. As part of our survey and design process, we assess your property’s heating requirements to determine whether an air source heat pump is the right solution and how it can deliver the best long-term performance.
Can help improve heating efficiency & reduce running costs when the system is properly designed for your property.
Delivers a steady, even level of warmth throughout the property, helping reduce cold spots and temperature swings.
Works especially well with underfloor heating, creating an efficient setup that provides comfortable, even heat.
Offers a more energy-conscious way to heat your property and can help reduce reliance on traditional fossil fuel systems.
One of the best ways to get the most from an air source heat pump is to combine it with underfloor heating.
Underfloor heating is designed to distribute heat evenly across a larger surface area at lower flow temperatures than traditional radiators. That makes it a natural partner for a heat pump system. The result is a comfortable heating setup that feels consistent, efficient and well-suited to modern living.
LE Heating already provides underfloor heating solutions for different floor types, including new floors, existing floors with milling, overlay systems, and timber floors. For heat pump projects, we assess and specify the most suitable underfloor heating approach for your property, layout and performance requirements. Existing floor overlay systems can save space, but they are generally less suitable for heat pump systems due to reduced efficiency.
From initial estimate through to installation, our process is designed to be clear, compliant and professionally managed. As an MCS-certified installer, we follow a full QMS-built process that is MCS-compliant and audit-ready at every stage.

We recently had a completely new heating system installed by L.E Heating, and we couldn’t be happier with the service from start to finish. Lee and his team were fantastic throughout the whole job. Because of the flooring in our bungalow there were a few challenges along the way, but Lee kept us fully updated at every stage and clearly explained any issues that came up. He also talked us through the different options available so we could decide on the best way forward, which we really appreciated. Communication was excellent the entire time, and Lee and his team worked efficiently and professionally. The work was completed to a very high standard and everything was left clean and tidy once the job was finished. It’s clear Lee takes real pride in his work and in making sure customers feel informed and confident about what’s being done. We would highly recommend Lee and his team at L.E Heating to anyone looking for reliable, honest, and skilled heating engineers.Posted on Google![]()

I thought the underfloor heating was leaking. Lee from LE Heating came the next day. Examined, checked the boiler, manifold and outside. Ruled out a leak. Diagnosed air bricks being too low/patio too high so outside water dampness or ingress. Explained clearly the problem. Prompt, professional and helpful. Recommended.Posted on Google![]()

Finally we have found a heating engineer who looks beyond the obvious and spots what oters have not noticed - eg non-return valve upside down. Super efficient team and a pleasure to do business with Lee, Neil and Monika in the office.Posted on Google![]()

Boiler developed an issue overnight that I could no fix, so no heating or hot water. Called LE Heating first thing and Lee was around by 10am. Diagnosed fault and gave phone number for Vaillant warranty (they only speak to property owner) with description of fault. Outcome is Vaillant turning up today to replace pump. Without Lee's comprehensive understanding not only of Vaillant boilers, but also of Vaillant UK as a business, it is likely this would have taken at least a week to resolve. Excellent customer focus and knowing best way to get fixedPosted on Google![]()

I had a frustrating experience with this heating company. After my boiler displayed an L9 error code, they replaced the PCB, claiming a 1-year warranty. However, just three days later, the L9 code reappeared. The engineer suggested a faulty harness and asked me to pay for a new one. My heating engineer friend raised concerns about whether the new PCB was truly brand new or refurbished. When I contacted the company with this information, they insisted that only a manufacturer's certificate would confirm the PCB was faulty and refused to honor the warranty without one (even though I had taken a photo of the boiler as evidence and checked the manufacturer's manual, which stated that a faulty PCB was the ONLY reason to display the L9 code). Weeks later, they offered to replace the PCB again but wanted to take the original one to inspect it, warning I'd be charged if it wasn't faulty. This lack of transparency and unwillingness to honor the warranty left me feeling doubtful and frustrated.
An air source heat pump is a heating system that takes heat from the outside air and uses it to provide heating and hot water inside the property.
It absorbs heat from the outside air and transfers it into your property through a heating system designed to operate efficiently at lower temperatures.
Yes. Underfloor heating is often one of the best heat emitters to pair with an air source heat pump because it works well at lower temperatures.
Yes, in some cases. Whether this is suitable depends on the property and the existing heating system. We can advise during the survey.
Yes. A proper survey is needed to assess whether a heat pump is suitable for your property and to complete the heat loss assessment and system design required for an MCS-compliant installation.
We assess the property, review the existing heating setup, carry out a heat loss assessment and use that information to design the most suitable system.
Suitability depends on factors such as the property layout, insulation levels, heat loss and existing heating system. That is why a survey is an important first step.
They can help improve efficiency and may reduce running costs when the system is correctly designed for the property and used with suitable heat emitters.
For many property owners, yes. They can offer a more energy-conscious heating solution and are often considered as part of a long-term upgrade.
